Dark Clouds Over the Economy

As the economy becomes more uncertain as evident in the number of bad news, such as layoffs or job cuts, increased number of foreclosures, and steep decline of the global stock markets, how can we not worry about the future? Even though it's difficult to ignore it, we must take solace in knowing that we still have our health and appreciate what we already have. The greatest wealth is our happiness that is not tied to status, power, fame or money. Take time to reflect on what is most important to you and take steps to realize your dream.

The recent downturn in the global market has changed my retirement date indefinitely. I used to update my portfolio almost daily, but I have not updated it since October, knowing it would be down significantly. Instead of getting upset about it, I simply spend more time on meditation, playing tennis, reading books at the library and watching movies. Life is too short on constantly worrying about financial wealth and security. We will never feel secure regardless of how much we have. The more we have, the more we worry about losing it. Life is more enjoyable if we stop wanting so much.
